The London café group Brew were opening their first Antipodea Brasserie in Kew. They had picked up on the current trend for bringing the outdoors inside and wanted contract furniture that fitted that overall theme. Ethically sourced furniture was essential for this forward-thinking company.
From the outset, we worked closely with the project designers to develop the bespoke pieces that complement the space. The mixture of natural woods and materials were specifically chosen to capture a natural aesthetic. The exposed brick walls and solid oak table tops – chosen to reflect the laid back feel of the Australian Outback – inspired us to use raw wood tones and rustic metal finishes to accentuate the natural feel of the space. The park style benches are accompanied by a black steel frame, exposed rivets and cracked antique leather seat pads that emphasise the relaxed dining atmosphere.
The Ibis side chairs were manufactured exclusively in house from the client’s spec and are a bespoke solid walnut design. The outdoor furniture is new for 2017 and is also a tailored design. The tabletops are CDF and the chairs are solid beech with veneer seat and hand-painted white backs. They create a unique synergy with the inside furniture and highlight the easy-going Australian ambience! The rattan armchairs create a distinctive blend of natural textures chosen to complement the botanical wallpaper and mirror the local heritage of surrounding Kew Gardens.
